Question
I have a horrible smell always in my front end washing machine
My washing machine has constant moldy smell in it. I have tried running the cycle with just vinegar, but it always reappears. Any suggestions.

We had the same problem with a top loader, and were told by our repair guy that the culprit is the phosphate-free detergents (this is what keeps mold at bay, I think). I don't know if you are using this kind with the front end loader, but this may solve your problem, along with leaving the door open to fully dry out the inside. The environment may not like phosphate detergent, but your washing machine does - this took care of our problem immediately.

The screen in the washing machine you are talking about is a built in screen that looks like bristles around the front of the drum.
This does collect lint, hair etc.and can create a smell if your machine does not dry in this area. This screen cannot be removed it is part of the machine.
Mat tag netune front loader washers have them is where I have seen, and yes they will mold. This is why the door also is to be left open a tad to air dry,as this would be impossible to keep dry by hand.

I was told there is a screen that traps lint, dog hair and scum and after sitting for a few days can stink. Also causing my clothes to smell after washing. I haven't figured out how to get to this screen to clean it but now I leave the washer open and I use a 1/2 of baking soda per wash. No more smell.

If your washing machine is a front load and you keep your door closed all the time the rubber in front will smell like mold and you may even see the mold around this area.
You will need to keep your door open at all times even a tad so it dries and maybe try this cleaner as it does work very good.Home depot sells it online. In the search bar top left side type in mold and the cleaning product will come up.

Question
The bottom plate on facets, is it optional to use?
I am getting granite counters and prefer the look of facets without a bottom plate. Is this typically an additional piece that I do not have to use or do I need to buy a facet that is designed without a bottom plate?

Easiest way to find out what kind of hole configuration the faucet is, well its to simply ask.
Most of the pullout and pull down faucets can be used without the plate, even a few of the non-pullout ones as well.

answer 2
There are many faucets available that can be installed without the deck plate for a 1 hole application but not all.
Be careful about which faucet you choose as some of them may not have that flexibility.
The majority of Kitchen Pulldowns/Pullouts and select 1 Handle kitchen offer 1 or 3 Hole flexibility. The information cards on the product displays will advise of this.
Thank you

a single hole is what you'll have to ask for with the granite people(they usually ask)
and open the box at the store to look, look for the single hole faucet, you dont want a compression stop type as they are 90% of the time 3 hole...then simply dont use the escussion plate they provide...which is for a 3 hole sink.

You do not have to use the bottom plate (depending on the manufacturer). Just make sure that the installer has the faucet before drilling the hole(s) so as to make the hole marginally smaller than the faucet. You do not want the faucet to fall through the hole.

New counter material
I have heard of a new material that is not corian and not marble, somewhere in between. Does someone know something about this material?

If it's a material sold at The Home Depot, it could be Silestone. Otherwise DuPont (the same company that sells Corian) also has another line called Zodiac, and looks similar to Silestone in that it has a shiny finish.

From your question, I think that you might be thinking about Silestone® which is a dense surfacing material with the look and feel of natural quartz. Check out our kitchen planner for more information. Hope this helps! http://www.homedepot.ca/kitchenplan...

The only product that comes to my mind is a Hardrock solid surface (www.hardrock.ca), which is very close to the Corian product. There are other surfaces like Concrete as well

The Almond Oil worked and since I never had baby powder I used bounce sheets too.
.After using the almond oil from Home Depot.ca and the oil was dry I laid bounce sheets inside and closed the drawers.Less then a week the dresser did not smell like wood stain anymore.
It smells good:)
This is the 2nd dresser I thought I would try it this way and it worked great to remove the stain smell too.

I have had this smell for wood and I have used Almond Glo Furniture Polish
Home Depot.ca sells this. This is a furniture oil, spray it on the wood and wipe it on and close the doors. The wood now will smell like almond.Much better smell then stain smell.
To find this product in the search top left corner type in almond oil and it will take you to the product.
When the oil dries on and it smells like almond you could then maybe sprinkle baby powder inside.not sure about the baby powder as I do not have baby powder.
Congratulations on your new baby.:))

I've found that Mr. Clean gets rid of most of the grease off my cabinets. Be sure to rinse with clean water. Also, the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser seems to work as well.

Cleaning kitchen cabinets can be tricky and you should always test products in a less noticeable location before going ahead and using it on the face of your cupboard. There are a number of grease fighting products on the market but I have found two items to be particularly effective on greasy messes. TSPe (949-129) is an aggressive degreaser that you could use seasonally to clean your cabinets, but make sure you wipe down the surface with clean water once you have washed them. For daily and weekly cleaning a product like Seventh Generation Cleaner and Degreaser (933-584) will keep them from getting grease and residue build up.

Depending on your budget and amount of time that you have alloted for this change you have a number of options to update your kitchen cabinets.
The first option is a complete kitchen renovation, it's up to you if you would like to try this as a do it yourself project or opt for professional installation. Try out our kitchen planner http://www.homedepot.ca/kitchenplanner to help get you started, and our professional kitchen designers are always available to help you work through the process.
Your next option is to look into cabinet refacing, this leaves the layout of your kitchen as it is today but replaces the doors and outer faces of the cabinets to give you a new fresh look. This project requires a professional installation in order to be completed, but can be done fairly quickly with less expense than a complete kitchen remodel.
Your last option is to paint the surface of your cabinets and the trim around them. This is a fairly labour intense project but can give you a fresh look at a very reasonable cost. You will need to wash all of the surfaces with a cleaner and degreaser (TSPe is a great choice) prior to sanding the surface to get it ready to accept paint. After sanding make sure to wipe all of the surfaces down with a tack cloth in order to make sure that no residual dust is left on the surface as that will stop your paint from adhering correctly. Once everything has been prepared completely apply one coat of a high adhesive primer to all of your exposed cabinet surfaces. You can follow the primer with two coats of a very durable paint in the colour of your choice. I have been most successful using melamine paint which is oil based and porch and floor paint which is a great latex based alternative. If you choose to use a low gloss paint that you may have on hand I suggest adding at least two coats of a clear coat in order to ensure that your hard work isn't rubbed off too quickly.
A couple of things to note:
Paint is not fully cured for 30 days after it has been applied and can be scratched or marked very easily during this time.
Humidity can effect how quickly your paint dries, in a very humid environment it can take as much as twice as long as the manufacturer's stated dry time in order to be ready to apply your next coat. Check with a paint associate at your local store to see how the weather outside will affect your dry times.
If you are planning to move the placement of your cabinet hardware make sure to fill in any existing holes before you begin sanding. This will ensure you don't see the shadow of where the pulls used to be.

I am trying to figure out why you are wanting to remove the Arborite from the top that you have. If you really have to remove it, I would probably suggest using some heat, or the arborite will just break off in small peices. If you just wanted to change the colour I would suggest replacing the whole top. It will be a lot easier in the long run, and not that much more expensive than buying sheets of loose arborite.

Your best bet would be to steam clean your sofa with a orange cleaner this will remove the smell and clean it as well.
I have used the orange cleaner for diesel as well as smoke .
I have used the orange cleaner that has the d'limonene in it.

You could try a couple of things. First I would try an odour eater like Zep Smoke Eliminator or Febreeze. If that doesn't work I would try cleaning the sofa with a steam cleaner like the Continuous Steam Cleaner by Conair (SKU 949890). Make sure you test the steam cleaner on a hidden area of the sofa before you start. After you steam the sofa I'd use a odour eliminator as well ... just to make sure you completely eliminate the smell.

If you have had this soap scum for a long time with hard water stains I really do not think you can remove it. I know from the past a house had this and not even oven cleaner would budge it.
If you ever find something I would like to know.

Spray on a bathroom tile cleaner (I use Mr. Clean Extra Power) and let sit for a couple minutes. Then use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser instead of a sponge or rag. The texture of the Magic Eraser removes soap scum with minimal scrubbing effort.
