Dishwasher does not drain
Hi,
My dishwasher does not fully drain all the water from the tub. What could be the reason? It is a GE Profile unit.

I had this problem when I bought a new house where the previous owner had just installed a new dishwasher. Turned out the drainage hose had a kink in it. We straightened the hose and it has worked fine ever since.

Well if the tub is full of water there could be somthing inside the drain like screws or food from your dishes. Otherwise your dishwasher is broken. And General Electrics are known to leave a little water to lubricate the tub lining and the drainage system. if all it is is a little water dont call a repair man if there is a lot of water yhen call a repair man. thankyou

Dishwashers "usually" retain a small amount of water in the bottom of the tub. GE dishwashers are manufactured along side other name brands in the same factory so the designs of the internal pumps and parts are very similar.
If you feel that the dishwasher is holding back an excessive amount of water, then a repairman may be able to fix the problem. It is possible that a setting on the pump float needs to be adjusted or replaced.

It could be something stuck in the pump example like a screw from a pot handle,
as this had happened to me before.

There are many kinds of stainless steel appliances that are a different made of material
some are very hard to polish and some are fine. The brushed steel was a easy one to care for and the others were not.I have used a furniture polish on some others I have used the zep metal polish which Home Depot in the stores carry. One place I used lemon oil and with these kind of products I had a perfect looking stainless steel appliance every time. so it just depends what kind of stainless steel you have.
You will be happy with the results.

Home Depot in Edmonton sells Cerama Bryte( Glass Ceramic Cook Top Cleaner) for your stove this works well and comes in a 28oz bottle for less then $7.00.
For the stainless steel Zep stainless steel cleaner works great and you also can get this at Home Depot in Edmonton the west end.
If Toronto has a Home Depot Store in your area they may have it there for you.
Both of these products work well.

There is a wide variety of cleaners on the market today for SS appliances, even regular glass cleaner depending upon the type of stains involved. If you want that fingerless magazine type look; try polishing by gently rubbing with a mixture of sodium carbonate and water using a soft rag, followed by a warm water rinse. Hope this Helps?

Call your manufacturer for a service call. The phone number would be in the back of your user manual in the warranty section. If you purchased an Extended Service Plan Call 1-866-461-5948

I really have no idea. The only thing I can think of is checking the lint trap. Maybe it is not tight or the hose end is not on. Hope that helps.

Question
can i change a built in dishwasher into portable
hi, i live in a rented apartment and want to buy a dishwasher. there is no place under the sink to fit the dishwasher so we want to make a seperarte cabinet which would be placed a little away from sink(3-4 feet). then we want to add long hose for water connection. we have normaL POWER supply only, i.e the one we use for toasters, microwave etc and we want to add the dishwasher plug to it. do you think this thing is possible. We dont want to buy a portable one as it will be waste when we buy our own house in 1-2 years. Please suggest. Can any of your technicians suggest the possibilities.

I would be more than happy to answere this question. First of all a built in dishwasher does not stand too steady on its own, once you open the door it usually topples over. So you gotta screw it down somehow. There are brackets along the bottom. Then you need to plumb in a 1/2" tee with a valve to your hot water pipe. run a flex line to your dish washer. Maybe you can look for couplers to put a couple of them together. You cannot just use a hose. you then need your standard dishwasher 90, which is a little piece of brass that adapts your dishwasher to the flex line. You then have to find a way to bring the drain to the sink or install an abs tee which adapts the dishwasher drain to your existing sink drain. As for the electrical the dishwasher can use 900 to 1500 watts which means you will need a complete circuit dedicated for it idealy. you can use the plug on your stove but don't use more than two elements at the same time. Your going to have to wire in your own plug to the dishwasher. There is a possibility that it will come with one. This project is the biggest pain but very possible.

No CSA and Building COde does not permit Extension cords for this use. To do it properly you would have to relocate the Outlet Box or Reselect a dryer with a cord exiting the dryer in a different spot which may allow you to reach again.

Bosch Dishwasher pump motor runs all the time

The Home Depot currently does not carry Bosch appliances. I suggest you purchase a new dishwasher as 10 years is a pretty good lifetime out of a dishwasher. I suggest LG dishwashers, simple to operate, ventless, nylon racks, great QA and hidden heating elements.

Old dial+push button models: the dial handles alot more function hidden that just being a visual timer aid. The dial tends to activate servos and other mechanical mechanism that activate when the dial is turned to a certain position. You are better off asing Bosch directly if parts are still made for this model, and if so, where is the closest authorized repair depot.

If the seal is listed in the manual with a number, then chances are the answer would be, "yes". If you no longer have the manual, most major manufacterers have websites with downloads available for product manuals. The most likely answer to this question would be that the seal and door are manufactered as one-unit, and do not come as separate pieces. Some manufacterers will allow you to purchase the entire door as a replacement part. It depends on the brandname.

Yes it is perfectly normal and perferable. That means the manufacturer tested your machine!

answer 2
yes. as they have to test the machine before it leaves the factory to ensure it works and if you go away for more than a week you may want to dump a glass of water in before running it as damage to the water pump may result.
