Roberts Airguard Premium 3-in-1 Underlayment for Laminate and Click-lock Wood Floors, 100 sq. ft. Roll

Roberts 70-105 Airguard Premium 3-in-1 Underlayment is ideal for installing laminate and engineered wood floors. Airguard provides the moisture barrier, sound reduction and cushioning required for a proper, quality installation. Airguard is the only underlayment manufactured with both Microban and Air Flow Technology to inhibit mold growth. Microban inhibits the growth of odor and stain causing bacteria, mold and mildew. Questions & Answers for Roberts Airguard Premium 3-in-1 Underlayment for Laminate and Click-lock Wood Floors, 100 sq. ft. Roll

Question
Do I use the self adhesive vapour barrier when laying on plywood subfloor?
How do I use this underlay on plywood subfloor? Do I not use the adhesive strip and just lay it down in side by side rows loosely? Because I heard that wood likes to breath and should never have underlay seems taped, or moisture could actually start accumulating and cause molds.
So what do you suggest I do with the adhesive strip? Use it? Cut it off? Tuck it under? Or...?
Thanks.

Rows of Harmony Underlayment are butted together side by side. The included adhesive strip under the 8" overlap is used to hold each row together at the top of seams, creating one continuous piece underneath your flooring. The underlayment is not adhered to the subfloor. Harmony's air-flow technology creates a pocket of constantly circulating air which inhibits mold growth. http://www.robertsconsolidated.com/files/pdf/datasheet/roberts/70-100pds.pdf

Roberts Harmony Underlay is not like other underlayments. It's unique Air Flow Technology-creates a pocket of constantly circulating air which inhibits mold growth. The 8" film overlap seals out moisture to protect floors. Just follow the installation instructions included with the product. See our weblink for more information as well. http://www.robertsconsolidated.com/files/pdf/datasheet/roberts/70-100pds.pdf

Harmony 3-in-1 Underlayment is designed for glueless (floating) laminate and engineered wood flooring installations. Ceramic tiles are "glued" to the floor using a thinset so therefore Harmony is not designed to be used under ceramic tile.

Allow the underlayment to wrap up the wall, on the ends, approximately 2 inches. After the flooring is completely installed, trim the excess underlayment back to the height of the finished floor. Do this prior to installing base or shoe molding. Complete installation instructions are included with each roll.

Harmony 3-in-1 Underlayment is only recommended for laminate and engineered floating floors. Sound dampening and moisture protection will be degraded with nails penetrating through this underlayment.

This underlayment is designed for laminate and engineered floating wood floor applications. Therefore no testing has been done for the application you are asking about. Theoretically this should help reduce noise, but we have no data to support it and in this application the warranty will become void. There are so many types of carpet backings and underpad on the market. Hopefully in your case there will be no noise created when those backings come in contact with our polyethylene film on the top and/or bottom.

You need to consult the laminate flooring manufacturer's recommendations to make sure all their needs are met with regards to their warranty. Most likely they will recommend testing for moisture content on below grade bare concrete. If the concrete is already painted with some type of sealer it may be okay. Most likely they will recommend a 6 mil moisture barricade such as Roberts 70-115 (HD Article #1000473570), be used on top of concrete, and then underlayment.

This product is designed to use in floating floor applications and has not been tested on walls. Theoretically it should work but fastening it mechanically could compromise the sound dampening effects. We have never tried gluing it so we would offer no guarantee if glue caused a failure. The best advise would be to insulate walls with a sound-dampening insulation.
