This product can be installed to any 100A or 200A residential panel. The current version allows the product to be installed beside or below the panel, horizontal or vertical. The Square D Whole House Surge can also be installed to any brand of panel. Please note that previous poster has a link to an older version of the product. Have to connect it outside the main panel using one of the knockouts. You will allso require an additional breaker 2 pole 30 amp or less. This unit is like 16" high and 7" wide. I have a link here that has more information on connection and sizes. http://ecatalog.squared.com/pubs/Electrical%20Distribution/Surge%20Protective%20Devices/External%20Surge%20Protective%20Devices/Residential%20Whole%20House/6671CT9701.pdf

Actually, if you have a single service with 2 - 200 amp panels, then you should be able to use only ONE Surgebreaker Plus... It would connect to the Splitter trough that feeds each service if they are both combination panels...

If it is another configuration, then there would be a slightly different configuration but in either case.. the Surgebreaker Plus protects the SERVICE.. not the Panel.... If you need further assistance, just post it here and I can help you...

You would need two Whole House Surge protectors for each 200A Service Panels. Since they are attached to the panel itself. It will protect all the circuits feeding from that panel only.

I have installed this and I am not an electrician. I have run a circuit or two in the basement and that is all the knowledge you need for this. The only problem I had was learning what a OCPD was? A fancy name for the breaker. Very important - use a double pole (15 amp is best) in the 1&2 slots as this provides the best protection. My SPD has been working great for 6 months now.

It is recommended that you use a dedicated two pole 20A circuit breaker for this device and not use existing breakers in your panel to attach the surge device. If you do not have enough space in the panel to accomodate a new double pole breaker in your panel, then many brands of panels offer Tandem or better known as space saver breakers. Buying two space saver breakers will provide the 2 additional circuits to your panel needed to install this device.

The unit is listed with UL/CSA and the specs that are quoted are backed up with test data supplied to those certification authorities... what more do you need..??

unless you are a qualified test/design engineer, you wouldnt be able to interpret and analyze those numbers anyways... and if you are, then this is not the right product for you.. You'd likely deisgn one for yourself
