This unit can be recessed or surface mounted. I'm not sure if the surface mounting box is included though...I think that it is.

When buying a programable thermostat look for one rated for 240V 4000W. It will be marked line voltage programmable electric baseboard thermostat. If you look at the specs or the fineprint it should be marked compatible with fan forced heaters. The honeywells are marked compatable with electric baseboard, convectors, and fan forced heaters.

Question
Can I connect this heater to an external thermostat, or do I need to use the built-in thermostat?
I'm replacing an existing wall mounted fan heater which does not have a built-in thermostat. I'd like to make sure that this unit will work properly when used with an external thermostat.

You can use an external thermostat. Make sure it's rated for 240V 4000W though. Also make sure it is compatible with fan forced heaters, exspecially if of the programmable type.

Question
Even when I turn the heater off, it still warms up the room.
I turn the button all the way to the left and the element is still warm/hot weeks later (but the fan does not work).... It is a major problem (the temperature in the room was higher than 30 degrees when we got back) and it is a waste of energy... Why isnt the heater OFF when i turn it OFF???

The only way this is possible is if the built in thermostat is not completely turned off or is faulty. If you have an external thermostat hooked to the heater the same thing is wrong. It is not set properly or it is faulty.

The heater should remain warm for a little while after it is turned off. It will also turn itself on if the temperature reaches 4 degrees. It should not be heating a room to 30 degrees though. If the element is remaining on even when the fan is off I would recommend exchanging the unit. Hope this helps.

Yes, with the built-in thermostat this unit will shut off when the room gets to a certain temperature. The temperature is set by the owner, therefore it will shut off at the temperature you set it to.

Good morning ,

This heater require 220 or 240 volt circuit only, it will not operate on 110, You need to determine what you have.

answer 2
If you are in Canada your voltage is 120/240 not 110/220. Also your power will fluctuate. It will not always be 120v. if you check it will be anywheres from 110 to 130v. Mine is at 122.4v right now. It doesn't matter what voltage you put to the heater it will still operate. It will just produce less heat and operate with less power with less voltage. For example a 1500W 240V heater will produce only 1260W at 220V. It is the frequency that is constant on your power lines at 60hz but the voltage varies from one house to the next.
