No it is part of the structural integrity of the base. It must be left in place.

Question
installing the base
I have puchased the shower and need some info on installation of the base. The base comes packed with styrofoam formed into it. My question is do I plan on using the styrofoam / base as is or should the styrofoam be removed?

Yes this styrofoam is what gives the base its strength and rigidity. It is not to be removed.

Home Depot does have a install program. You would have to check your local store to determine if they do shower installs in that particular location. See an associate in the Kitchen and Bath area for more details or call your local store.

with this particular one piece wall it is recommened to do both. Adhesive would be used over all and screws on the edges. Caps are included to cover screw heads.

includes the base, walls, door, drain kit. You'll need adhesive to install the wall and DAP caulking to seal between the wall and the base.

With any plastic product that is glued to the wall as you experience expansion and contraction with cold and heat the unit may experiece cracking. I would not recommend it for your application unless that wall was insulated

No this unit is made from ABS and during expansion / contraction between cold and heat the plastic / abs sheet may crack. To find spec sheets please see Lila at www.keystonebymaax.com

No it does not require mortar It is essential that the base and floor are level though
