Yes, I see no reason why it couldn't as shortening it will not affect the overall performance of the item nor in any way negativley affect any of the parts that are supplied with this item; all should perform properly.

The main track could be shortened with a hacksaw making sure than you do not interfere with the outside edges of the track that the guide slides along.

Anonymous - my first reply is that the site says that you are talking about our item that would be classified as a 'centre mount slide' as it is stating 22-3/4" and at present no addtional item is available to slow the closing force of your drawer. (A centre mount slide would be 1 metal or wood slide mounted under the drawer). If your drawer has metal slides on either side they can be replaced, if you have some DIY knowledge as your drawer needs to be altered, by our item called BLUMTANDEM which is a drawer slide that has a built in "soft close" mechanism. You can see a sample of this at your local Home Depot store in the Richelieu Display in the Orange colored display. Depending on how your cabinet is constructed you could also look at the item BP971A0500 (to the right of the orange display) that is designed for doors but may work in your application.
