please read thru the information below. I suggest using Sakrete Fast set Concrete - details below.

Crack Resistant Concrete is a pre-blended, synthetic fi bre reinforced, air
entrained concrete material. It is reinforced with alkali-resistant fi bres to
resist cracking and eliminating the need for wire mesh in many non critical
applications. It also contains an air-entraining admixture which will produce
a concrete with superior freeze-thaw and salt scaling durability. Use for
new concrete construction projects, concrete overlays and repairs where a
thickness 5 cm (2”) or more is required. Open to foot traffi c in approximately
24 hours. Meets or exceeds ASTM C 387 strength requirements.
FEATURES & BENEFITS:
• reinforced with alkali-resistant fi bres to resist cracking
• air-entrained for cold weather durability
• excellent workability
USES
For new concrete construction projects, concrete overlays and concrete
repairs. Use to construct footings, sidewalks, slabs, steps and patios,
setting deck posts, fence posts, poles, etc.
PROCEDURES
Mix and substrate temperatures should be maintained between 5 and
30ºC (40 and 86ºF) for at least 24 hours prior to and 48 hours after. For
temperatures below 5°C (40°F) refer to SAKRETE® Fast-Set Concrete.
Mixing: Empty contents of bag into mortar box, wheelbarrow or
mechanical mixer. When mixing by hand form a crater for adding water.
Add approximately 2.2 L (2 1/4 quarts) of clean water per 30 kg (66 lb) bag
or enough to achieve a workable mix. Avoid a soupy mix. Excess water
reduces strength and durability and can cause cracking. In cold weather
use warm water to accelerate the set. Use cold water to slow the set in
hot weather.

COLD WEATHER APPLICATIONS
SAKRETE Fast-Set Concrete is a pre-blended, fast-setting, high strength
concrete material. It is designed for fast construction allowing same day
use. Use for fence and deck posts, new concrete construction projects,
concrete overlays and repairs where a thickness 5 cm (2”) or more is
required. Fast-Set Concrete can also be used successfully in cold weather
projects. Open to foot traffi c in approximately 3 hours. Exceeds ASTM C
387 strength requirements.
FEATURES & BENEFITS:
• fast setting
• ideal for cold weather applications
• walk on in hours
USES
For new concrete construction projects, concrete overlays and concrete
repairs. Use to construct footings, sidewalks, slabs, steps and patios,
setting deck posts, fence posts, poles, etc.

Add approximately 2.8 L (3 quarts) of clean water per 30 kg (66 lb) bag
or enough to achieve a workable mix. Avoid a soupy mix. Excess water
reduces strength and durability and can cause cracking. In cold weather
use warm water to accelerate the set. Use cold water to slow the set in
hot weather.
Fast Set Concrete Mix can be used successfully in cold weather weather
providing the following precautions are taken:
1. Fast Set Concrete Mix must be maintained at room temperature 24
hours prior to use.
2. Do not use if temperature will fall below –5º (23º F) Celsius within 24
hours of placing concrete.
3. Clean warm tap water should be used for mixing.
4. Placed concrete must be protected from freezing for at least 24 hours
after application. A blanket of insulation will assist in proper setting of
concrete.

You will need approximately 32 bags. The formula used to get this is: Length(ft.) 8 X Width (ft.) 12 X Depth (In.) 2 =_192_ /12= cubic feet_16_ x 2 = 32 # of 30kg bags required. I hope this helps.

Hi Walker,
Using the following formula you will be able to calculate how many bags you would need:
Length in feet X Width in feet X Depth in inches / 12 = cu.ft. X 2 = 1- 30kg bag. I cannot provide you with an exact number but I think I came up with about 80 bags. I hope this helps.

Question
best concrete for repairing large cracks in driveway
I have lifted out sunken broken pieces and levelled using coarse washed sand. pieces
are back in place and need to be cemented together. I thought I would use the coarse
sand in the concrete instead of gravel, so that i can get the stuff pushed all the way down into the cracks. I have been told there is a 2 part epoxy like solution that I can use
to help it stick. Heard of it? What type cement to use? Course sand instead of gravel in mix?

Unfortunately this product is not for making repairs. Please take a look at one of our Do-it-yourself projects at http://diy.homedepot.ca/diy/project..., it may help. It is recommended to remove all loose pieces and wash away all debris, then fill cracks with concrete. I hope this helps.

Question
what concrete mix or cement is the best to repair out side steps ?
My entrance steps at the front had tiles which was loosened by winter climate. I took out all the tiles on the steps and cleaned it. Now I want to resurface the steps to get a new look and I don't want to use any tiles. I have only 4 steps ( with 3 feet length). Which concrete / cement would be the best for that job. After resurfacing the steps can I add some coloring on the steps to get a better look...or is there any better idea to share..?
Please help me.
Thanks.

Please see the attached picture for the product to use to resurface your steps. It is ideal for your situation. I recommend using the Stoneffects 3 step system to give your steps a unique hard-rock look. That product would be great for making your steps stand out from your neighbours. It comes in a variety of colours as well. Have a look at it in our stores or browse for it on our website. The product is called "Stoneffects"

Hope this helps.

a concrete Adhesive would be helpful. Or what you can do is mix some of the new product to a slurry and brush onto the adjoining surface.
tamp the area well after placement to consolidate the pour.
