Questions & Answers for KING KING Parging Mix 25kg

Question
Will this product meet my conditions?
I have a core floor home and need to put a coat of parging over rigid foam insulation on the exterior of the foundation. This will be in direct contact with the soil which is usually more moist than dry. The original parging has begun to crack and peel away in sections. Also, will I require any additional products?

follow the directions under proceedure 2 on the bag.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces to be repaired must be structurally sound and clean. Remove all delaminated or unsound concrete by chipping with a hammer and chisel or using a stiff wire brush. Clean the area to be repaired with potable water, leaving the concrete saturated but free of standing water. Some very porous concretes may require
several applications of water to ensure complete saturation.
Placing: Application to:
Clean, sound, concrete blocks and poured concrete proceed to Surface Preparation 1.
Loose, unsound or painted concrete and wood surfaces proceed to Surface Preparation 2.
Surface Preparation 1: Application to clean, sound, concrete blocks
and poured concrete. Thoroughly saturate the area to be parged and
remove any free standing water. Some very porous concrete may
require several applications of water to ensure complete saturation.
After mixing apply Parging Mix by trowel to a damp surface not
exceeding 10 mm (3/8”) thickness. If a greater thickness is required,
rough up surface with a coarse broom and allow to harden 24 hours
before repeating process.
Surface Preparation 2: Application to loose, unsound or painted
concrete and wood surfaces. Mechanically fasten galvanized diamond
wire mesh to surface. Wood surfaces require 15 lb (6.8 kg) asphalt
impregnated building paper under mesh. Dampen exposed concrete.
After mixing apply initial layer of Parging Mix by trowel level with
mesh surface. Rough up surface with a coarse broom and allow to
harden 24 hours. Then thoroughly saturate area with clean water and
apply a finishing layer to a damp surface not exceeding 10 mm (3/8”)
thickness.
Finishing: It is recommended to use a wood, magnesium or aluminum
fl oat trowel for a smooth surface. For a textured surface use a broom
or brush.
Curing: Curing means maintaining proper moisture and temperature.
Allow newly placed material to set until surface is hard to the touch.
Then keep material damp or cover with plastic to prevent evaporation
of mix water for at least three (3) days. Protect from freezing for at least
24 hours.

Hi Unique,
Unfortunately this parging mix is not what you would require for your application. This product is meant for a concrete block or wall. It sounds like you may have a stucco home and therefore will need something with polymer in it as this product cannot be placed on the rigid foam insulation. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please see below for the surface preparation for this product for painted and unpainted surfaces:
Step 1. All surfaces must be structurally sound. Using a stiff brush and water, clean surfaces of loose particles, dirt, sand, dust, etc. Remove all paint. Grease and oil should be scrubbed vigorously with a strong detergent and flushed clean with water. Application to clean, sound concrete blocks or poured concrete proceed to step 2. Loose, unsound or painted concrete and wood surfaces proceed to step 3.
Step 2. Application to clean, sound concrete blocks or poured concrete. Thoroughly saturate the area to be parged and remove any free standing water. Some very porous concrete may require several applications of water to ensure complete saturation. Apply Parging Mix by trowel to a damp surface not exceeding 9mm (3/8”) thickness. Finish as desired. If a greater thickness is required, rough up surface with a coarse broom, and allow to harden 24 hours before repeating process.
Step 3. Application to loose, unsound or painted concrete and wood surfaces. Mechanically fasten galvanized diamond wire mesh to surface. Wood surfaces require 15 lb. asphalt impregnated building paper under mesh. (Dampen exposed concrete.) Apply initial layer of Parging Mix by trowel level with mesh surface. Rough up surface with a coarse broom and allow to harden 24 hours. Then thoroughly saturate area with clean water and apply a finishing layer to a damp surface not exceeding 9mm (3/8”) thickness. Finish as desired.
I hope this helps.
