The shoerail can be secured in place by spreading a small bead of construction adhesive on the underside and on either end of the shoerail, then place flat on the floor between 2 newel posts.
Drill a counter sink hole in the shoe rail then install a screw through the shoe rail into your floor every 3 feet. This will secure your shoe rail. The screws will be hidden when you install the fillets between your balusters.
