Installation
Hi. I have a quick question. I am purchasing these to replace my current stair railings. We are having Home Depot also install new carpet on the stairs and upper kanding and was wondering if these balusters can be installed on TOP of the carpet or are they meant to be installed UNDER the carpet.

It is recommended that these baluseters be installed directly to the wood of the tread. Putting it directly on the wood surface removes the "wiggle room" caused by the padding of the carpet.

TIP: Drilling a pilot hole into the wooden tread under the railing is also recommended, most treads are made of very hard wood and drilling this pilot hole stops the screw head from stripping.
