Question
what are my options?
I have to instal 2000 sq. ft. if cement floor in my basement. I need to know what are my options for insulation under the cement? I understand that home depot handles a 4x8 sheet of some kind of material for under cement? The only one i see advertised on this web site is asd 2ft. x 8ft. There is another one advertised as a 4x8ft. , but I do not know if that will work? Is there any other product home depot carries,, that will do the job?

Insulating the cement floor in your basement with Owens Corning Celfort® 200 2X8 sheets or CodeBord® 4x8 sheets is easy. Both products can be used for this application. To find that out how many sheets you need, calculate the total area of your home to determine the amount of sheets: multiply the floor length by the floor width, in feet, and then divide the total area to be insulated by measurement of the sheet.
For example:
• If your home basement floor is 10 ft (floor length) x 10 ft (floor width), the total square area of the floor = 100 ft2.
• Divide the coverage area by sheet, or 16ft for 2X8 sheets, or 32 ft for the 4x8 sheets.
• Number of sheets required = 6.25 (7 sheets) for the 2x8 dimensions, or 3.125 (4 sheets) for the 4x8 dimensions.

For more information on how to insulate your basement floors with Celfort 200® or CodeBord®, visit www.owenscorning.ca . Hope this helps!

Question
Can this be used as flooring insulation in a residential basement?
My basement already has a poorly done subfloor (previous owner). It is strapping nailed to the concrete with white styrofoam as insulation between each piece, covered by 1/2 chip board. I took up a few pieces to check it and there are large gaps with no insulation. The floor is still very cold. My ceilings are plenty high and the chip board is relatively flat. Rather than spend too much time and energy on ripping up this travesty, I was hoping to just lay rigid insulation over this followed by a layer of chipboard or plywood directly on top before installing laminate flooring. Will this product support this weight?

Since you have no ceiilng heights restrictions, use 1.5" thick (R7.5) or 2 " ( R10) extruded polystyrene Foamular C200, install it over your existing subfloor and cover with tongue and groove plywood. Nail the new subfloor to anchor it properly and use a laminate flooring overtop. Enjoy.
Should you decided to rip it all to start from scratch, let us know and we will send you the technical bulletin on the subject.

Building a basement subfloor with Foamular
Hi,

I would like to build a subfloor over my concrete basement floor using Foamular insulation and OSB panels over it. In an answer of a previous question, "owencorning123" spoke about a technical bulletin on how to do it. Can somebody tell me where this document is ?

Thank you
