QuietZone® acoustic insulation is specifically engineered for sound absorption. The insulation can provide some thermal resistance but it will not be as high as our PINK FIBERGLAS® thermal insulation with the same thickness. What size should the wall studs be to accommodate the 16" x 48" x 2.5" insulation...2 x 4, 2 x 6, 2 x 8, etc.?

The insulation dimension of 2.5" thickness indicates a 2x4 wall stud. The width of 16" and the gray colour of the bag refer to a steel stud wall system as opposed to a wood stud (pink bag). The insulation will fit in the wood or steel stud cavity easily by friction fit, which means the insulation will fit snuggly and will stay in place.

Heating ducts in homes are not insulated and they should. Just like in commercial buildings, energy savings can be achieved by making sure to maintain the warm air arm in winter and the cool air cool in summer. The Building Code restrictions apply to fireplace chimneys and recess light boxes.

Is is safe to breath around this product?
I want to attach this product to the wall behind my microphone or make a tiny booth around my microphone for my home recording studio. Is it safe to breath around this product or will I be inhaling fiberglass or other dangerous mirco-particles?

All of our products are tested by Greenguard for dust and particulates. We meet the most stringent criteria for Schools and Children and the levels are twice lower than what Health Canada recommends. It is safe. However, the product is not rigid and does not have a finish. How is it going to resist to long time wear and tear? You will need to finish the tiny booth with drywall or wall panel or a cloth of some sort. And it would look better too.
