Dewalt DeWALT 1.8 HP Continuous, 200 PSI, 15 Gallon Workshop Compressor

DeWALT 1.8 HP Continuous, 200 PSI, 15 Gallon Workshop Compressor will help make short work of all your projects. It features 5.4 SCFM @ 90 PSI for quick compressor recovery times, and 200 PSI max tank storage pressure for longer air tool run times. Efficient high pressure technology allows for longer pump and motor life, and allows the compressor to be run with an extension cord (12 Ga. or heavier, 50 ft. or less) due to consistent amp draw requirements of the compressor. A compact design allows for the compressor to be easily moved, transported, and stored, and a robust dual purpose handle provides additional protection to the compressor along with serving as a hose wrap. A metal console panel protects the gauges, coupler, and regulator, while the high flow air regulator allows for maximum air tool run time. Oil free, maintenance free pump, for convenient use.

Questions & Answers for Dewalt DeWALT 1.8 HP Continuous, 200 PSI, 15 Gallon Workshop Compressor

Question
Why do posted specs not match those on compressor?
the information on the actual compressor are not the same as those listed on the web site or given by the cdn store. The actual compressor says 4.8cfm@100PSI this site says 5.4 and the box says 1 year limited warranty although this site says 3
What is the true rating for this item, we were told the number D55168-CA was the identical compresssor the that listed on the web site as D55168

Mine says 5 cfm @ 90 PSI. At higher pressure, CFM's get lower, vise versa, lower PSI, higher CFM's.
D55168-CA is not identical, even current draw is lower which means weaker motor.
But never mind the CFM's or motor. If you were to test PSI drop at the impact tool over 50 foot run on 3/8 hose, you won't believe how poorly this compressor performs.
I tested 40 PSI drop under load, at the tool. This points to very poor regulator.

Hi Troubled,
Thank you for noticing the error on the specifications on this compressor we are working on getting it updated. The Canadian model (D55168-CA) runs on less amperage than the US equivalent (D55168) at 15A vs. 18.5A. This translates into a difference in CFM (4.8 vs. 5.4). The reason the Canadian version is specied to 15A is due to Canadian Standards Association (CSA) requirements that no more than 15A can be run off of 110V circuit. That said the D55168-CA has the latest in Dewalt Efficient High Pressure (EHP) technology. Due to a patented single stage 200 psi pump this 17Gallon compressor performs the same as many 40Gallon units on the market…but in a smaller more compact size. Regarding warranty on all electric oil free compressors is 1 year and oil lube compressors is 2 years. Note that on gas units the warranty is 1 year service-only due to CSA restrictions on transporting gas machines that have had gas run through them. I hope this clarifies things.

Question
What is SCFM @ 40 psi?
I am looking to purchase the DeWALT 1.8 HP Continuous, 200 PSI, 15 Gallon Workshop Compressor Model: D55168. All the paint guns have a rating at 40 psi and 90 psi. What is the SCFM rating at 40 psi? I am looking for the Canadian numbers.

First of all, it's 1.6Hp not 1.8Hp, not 5.4 CFM but 5.0 CFM. Specs on the web are wrong. Most likely the flow will be around 6 - 6.5 CFM.
One word of advise, this compressor has very poor regulator. As TESTED, on 50 foot run, 3/8 hose, only 2 fittings, pressure drop was 40 PSI. Which means, to get, say impact gun to run at 90 PSI under load, you need 130 PSI at the regulator.

Question
Doesn't quite reach 200psi.
Hi, I've had this compressor for over a year with light home usage for a couple of motorcycle painting jobs. I've noticed it doesn't reach 200psi on fill, more like 190. And if I leave it full (know I shouldn't but we all do), it loses pressure over 2 days but I can hear any air escaping. Is this typical?

Mine reaches 210 PSI. You could be losing pressure thru the pump. You gotta remember this is oil-less compressor. They usualy use Teflon coating on the cylinder walls and other components as dry lubricant. Once this wears out, compressor becomes a boat anchor.

Single. As you can see from the picture, it only has a single pump, thus single stage.
