so what does 7.0 gross torque translate to HP?

hp = torque * RPM / 5252 assume rpm = 3600

Using this formula 7.0 torque converts to 4.8 horses .

note that old HP claims were overstated , thats why they switched to torque . The torque also varies according to the rpm.

There is no relationship between HP and gross torque power. Torque power is the amount of work power generated by the engine to turn the blade. The higher the number the better the engine performance.

This is rear-wheel drive , all personal pace are . The tecumseh engine is not OHV . I don't think the new B&S engines are either . I see no mention of it . It is a very durable engine .

CSA stands for Canadian Standards Association.
There are no CSA standards for mowers. Our mowers and snow throwers are all certified to meet ANSI standards.

Operation on all slopes requires extra caution. As long as the hill is not to steep this mower would be an excellent mower for you to use. Please be sure to read the owners manual on how to operate the mower on a slope.

Toro uses two different engines on our steel deck recycler mowers. The rear wheel drive variable speed mowers use a 675 series Briggs and Stratton engine and the Personal Pace models us a 700 series Briggs and Stratton engine..
