How much money does motions save, on average?

Depends on the situation, but you can estimate it.
One 13 watt CFL consumes about 114 kWh annually if left on all the time. My current Ontario electricity rates (adding ALL costs in, including taxes) are about 20 cents per kWh, so the CFL would cost about $23 to keep lit all year. Your savings would depend on how much the light is on without the sensor vs. with, and the wattage of the lights the sensor is controlling. Most motion sensors uses maybe a watt or two (manual should say) so that energy consumption is relatively minor.
Most energy consumption web sites I have seen estimate energy savings of 30-50% using a motion detector.
There is also a convenience factor. I have one in my garage so I never step or drive into a dark room, and I don't have to think about turning on or off the light.

answer 2
Motion sensor lights only trigger when there is motion sensed, and stay on for selected periods of time. This means that there would be a huge savings in electrical usage in comparison to a light that is just turned on fully bright all night. There is no way to put a specific monetary figure on it, there are far too many variables that would enter into the equation that would be specifically related to any particular installation to be able to give a blanket estimate of how much money would be saved. Most of our motion sensing lights qualify as `Energy Star’, which means substantial savings over just a fixture that is on all night.

No, this switch cannot be used in conjunction with a dimmer switch, and should not have a dimmer switch on the same circuit.
