The floor will not crack if you drop something heavy on it... It is vinyl and very flexible. However if the item is SHARP, you can damage/puncture the floor.

If laying allure over existing ceramic tile, it may be necessary to skim coat the grout lines with a floor leveler. If you install allure over an existing floor that has an embossing or grout line on it, we recommend you skim coat with a floor leveler if the embossing or grout line is greater than 1/8”—(3 mm). The sub floor surface should be flat, dry, clean and solid. Carpet staples or adhesive residue must be removed to insure proper installation.

Subfloors should be flat within a tolerance of 1/8” (3mm) over a span of 10 feet. Any unevenness over 1/8” (3mm) must be sanded down or filled with a floor leveler.

Question
can this product be used over an existing laminate floor

We do not recommend you install this floor over laminate. Laminate tends to have some flex in it, which is a little unstable for Allure. We recommend that you remove the laminate floor before installing your Allure floor. All subfloors must be sound, solid and have little flexibility. Tolerance is 3/16” over 8’.

Recommended subfloors include wood, vinyl, linoleum, ceramic tiles and concrete.

Question
I removed old linoleum tiles from my concrete basement floor. There is some unevenness due to difficulty removing all the adhesive.
I am looking at getting the Ashlar Allure Tile. Will the variation due to the residual adhesive translate through the floor making the surface uneven/wavy? Do you recommend using the Allure product or have another recommendation on what could be done.

Radiant Heated floors: Electric and Hydro systems are acceptable. Subfloors should have been operational for at least one week prior to installation to calibrate temperature settings. The temperature should never exceed 85F (30C) during and after installation. Radiant components must be a minimum of ½” below Allure flooring.
