Pergo laminate flooring can be installed in any room in your home, over most subfloors, in below grade, on grade and above grade applications.

Maximum acceptable moisture reading for concrete subfloors is 4.5%.

Pergo Moisturbloc or an equivalent non-recycled 6 mil. polyethylene film, must be used as a vapor barrier over concrete subfloors even when the concrete subfloors are covered with vinyl or rubber sheet goods, resilient tile or ceramic tile or linoleum.

The subfloor must be clean, dry and level. To test for flatness, move a straight edge, six feet or longer, across the surface of the floor. Any low spots greater than 3/16-inch must be filled in with a leveling compound. Ridges or high spots must be reduced by grinding or sanding. The floor should slope no more than 1” in a 6’ radius.

Question
Does the pre-attached underlayment have any moisture barrier qualities. When installed in a basement, what additional underlay if any do you suggest?

We will be more than happy to assist you with your inquiry. The pre-attached under layment has no moisture barrier qualities. When installing over a concrete subfloor you will need to install a 6 mil. vapor barrier. Then you must overlap the seams by eight inches.

Question
Pergo Prestige Blue Mountain Hickory
1) I understand based on your response previously that the Pergo Prestige Blue Mountain does not contain any moisture barrier qualities. I live in a condo and just wanted to know if I still need to add vapor barrier.

2) Can you please comment on the 2 mm underlayment with respect to noise reduction. Since I live in a condo, I want to make sure the underlayment is sufficient to reduce noise.

3) Can you please post your email address?

1) You will need a vapor barrier if you have a concrete subfloor, but not if you have a wooden subfloor.

2) The underlayment has a STC (sound transmission class) rating of greater than or equal to 50. Check your condo association's requirements.

3) Our email is contactus@pergo.com
