it says this unit is not CSA approved..is that right??

According to the posted literature, yes. This is not to say that the product is not safe or cannot be sold in Canada. A special Hydro inspection or UL or ULC labeling would assure you that the product is safe to use. Be aware that if the fire department or building department has jurisdiction where this product is being used, acceptance could be refused. It is best to use only emergency lighting charger products that are CSA C22.2 No. 141 Performance Certified and that are rated to meet the required illumination duration applicable to your use as specified by the Fire and/or Building Codes of your province.

To answer your question, the heading might read that the product is not CSA approved however it does have a certified rating just not a CSA rating. Many US products do not have a CSA rating but instead a different safety standard rating which still makes them tested products. Hope this helps.
