If the application will be an outside, uncovered area, then yes, the accessory lens must be purchased. It is available by special order from any Home Depot store.

are the lamp bottoms closed?
when reading descriptions of outdoor lights, what will it say to let you know that the bottom is sealed. sometimes the pictures don't show if it is open (for bugs) or closed
