Questions & Answers for Outdoor Living Today Cedar Picnic Table - 6 Feet x 5 Feet

Question
Is it pre-treated?
I was wondering if you had a picnic table that was already pre-treated, so that we didn't need to paint it or stain it. it was already done. Do you have anything like that? What would the price be?

The cedar picnic table is made from solid cedar wood which is quite weather resistant.

The cedar picnic table is a kit. The wood is not pre-treated.

Since the cedar picnic table comes as a kit, one can paint/stain the cedar wood parts before assembling the table. However, the cedar wood has a lot of knots which may not stain well unless one uses a dark coloured stain. (I painted my table in a brown colour).

The Outdoor Living Today picnic table is a panelized unit which manufactured from Western Red Cedar. One of Western Red Cedar’s most valuable characteristics is its well-known high resistance to decay. It is one of the most durable coniferous species and can be counted on to give long and trouble free service under most conditions. Cedar’s decay resistance comes from the presence of naturally occurring fungicidal compounds in the wood called thujaplicins. Another extractive present in the wood, thujic acid, helps make the wood resistant to insect attack. Many people choose not to finish Cedar at all which will result in a silver-grey colouration of the wood within a year, however, finishing with a clear 'cedar specific' sealant, readily available at Home Depot.ca will keep the look and the colour for years to come.

Question
What is the difference?
I really want to have one of this picnic table.
Today I saw another kind of picnic table at Homedepot near my house.
It was under $60, which is really cheap.
What is the difference between these?
Is it only because of quality of wood?

The difference is the quality of wood, quality of hardware (stainless steel) and delivery directly to your residence. Pine needs to be finished continuously whereas Western Red Cedar is a long lasting wood and does not need to be finished if you dont' want to. Here are some Western Red Cedar specifics:

The only difference is that the one in-store is made from solid pine wood and the one online is made of cedar. I hope this helps.
