Questions & Answers for Mirolin Sydney Acrylic Skirted Tub - 60 Inch x 30 Inch

Question
Is the total length including all framing 60" or does the frame add some length?
I took out a 58" tub, the walls are 60" apart exactly, but the plumbing is out from the wall. Will this standard 60" tub fit in the space, or is the plumbing in the way?

Hello,

The Sydney and all 60" bathtubs are designed to fit a "standard" 60" opening. Because no two bathrooms are the same, it is difficult to assure you that this or any tub will fit your particular situation. From what you have described though, I would suspect this tub will fit into the space you are describing.
As for the plumbing, again, it is difficult to judge but in most situations that involve the removal and installation of a bathtub, you need to install new pluming as well i.e. the faucet and water supply lines.

Thank you.

Hello,

The Sydney bathtub does not have a removable apron. When a Hydrotherapy option is added such as Whirlpool Jets, it will have a removable panel to allow access to the pump.

Thank you.

Question
can I trim the length to fit my bathroom?
The framing for a bathroom has already been done, all of it is structural so I was wondering if I could cut some of the tub off length wise in order to fit the slightly less than 5' opening.

Hello,

If you are replacing an existing tub, the Sydney is meant to fit in this "standard" opening. Its total length is 60".
Modifying the tub in any way is NOT recommended, it can alter the integrity of the tub and will void the Warranty.

Thank you.

Hello,

All that is required for support along the back wall is a 1" x 2" piece of wood. The bathtub itself is actually supported by feet. Please ensure your floor is 100% level.

Thank you.

Hello,

Acrylic by nature has more flex when compared to an old traditional steel bathtub so some squeaking type sounds are normal. Steel by contrast has an echo sound to it. A noise that would be described as excessive however should not be present. This is often the result of improper installation either by not properly and fully securing the tub to the studs or the bathtub not being level and being fully supported by the feet.

If it is determined that the tub is not level and supported by the feet, this can be resolved by shimming the feet underneath. This would however require some sort of access to the back and underside of the tub, usually through a closet behind the tub.

If the squeak persists, you can call in to Mirolin tech support at 1-800-Mirolin and speak to a technician.

Thank you.
