Tempered glass cannot be cut. Installation instructions are included with each rail package. Each rail has pre-routed holes to accomodate the glass panels.

The glass panels are tempered glass. As a reference, standard window glass will break when the temperature reaches approximately 250° F. Tempered glass can last until about 500°F. In contrast, fire-rated glass can typically survive heat in excess of 1600° F. It is recommended to use fire-rated glass for your application.

How many inches will a package cover
Does a 42 inch kit cover exactly 42 " of railing. If I wanted to do a 12 foot span would I have to buy 2 end or corner posts, 1 mid post, 2 72" vinyl rails and 4 36" Lakeview Glass Panels.

To cover 12 ft in lenght, you would need 3 posts, 2 Lakeview rail sets and 2 packages of Lakeview glass. If you need 42" in height, buy the 42" high glass packages, if you need 36" in height, buy the 36" high glass packages.

It depends a lot on what type of force being applied to the glass panel. The glass panel is 6mm tempered glass.
