The RYOBI 9 In. Band Saw features a powerful 2.5 amp induction motor, a blade tracking sight window, and the RapidSet blade tensioning system. You also get rack and pinion blade guide adjustment plus independent upper and lower TrackLock blade guides. The table tilts from 0-45 degrees. This saw is generally used for wood operations...it may run a bit fast for metal cutting. You could put a switch on it to control the speed, then with the right blade you would be OK

Ryobi website says this comes with a 59 1/4" blade, but there are no 59 1/4" replacement blades only 59 1/2" blades?

The 59 and a half are fine. There is more than that amount of adjustment on the saw.

The adapter in the Ridgid section of vacs at the Home Depot should work. The Ridgid vac should friction fit right on the unit however

Yes it will. The motor has the power to do that. Always use a sharp blade for clean accurate cuts

can i cut metal with a proper blade and this saw?
I have some old typeset blocks that I would like to cut down to use in some projects. I figure I will need to take about 1/8 inch of the top to retain the lettering. the block is about 3/4x3/4 square and thick. I believe they are lead. I was thinking i could use something like this and a good c clamp to do the job. Any comments are apprecaited.

This saw is designed for wood. I am thinking it may run to fast for metal as it stands off the shelf. But if you put a switch on it to slow the speed, and with the right balde, you could cut lead. Wear a really good mask!!

The instructions are in the manual which can be seen and printed from thye Ryobi.com website. The instructions are on page 16, 17, 20, 21.

This saw can take a 1/2 inch blade if you can find it. Most commonly 3/8 is about the max due to motor size and stregnth
