The clock is dc. It works on AAA batteries only. In my experience, they last about 3 years, maybe longer.

This clock is dc and uses two AAA alkaline batteries that are included with the clock. I hope this helps.

Yes - The atomic clock will set it's self automatically in Canada

Yes it will, it just won't show you time zones they don't have the in the US (Atlantic or Newfoundland).

It will actually "work" as a regular non-atomic clock outside of the US time zones too, you just have to manually set it.
