Hello and thanks for your question.
Yes. When installing your laminate floor over a DRIcore Subfloor we recommend the installation of the foam underlay. Please see the below installation guidelines:

Laminate - Install the floor manufacturer’s foam underpad and laminate flooring on top of the DRIcore panels. The installation of a continuous vapor barrier on top of DRIcore is permitted as long as it is not sealed to the perimeter wall. Only remove the 1/4” wall spacers after the laminate floor has been installed.

If you require further information please do not hesitate to visit www.dricore.com.

Yes, you will still need to put a foam underlay on top of these DRIcore panels. You should follow the installation instructions for the flooring you plan to lay down; so if the laminate requires underlay then you need to use it. I hope this helps.

The price of $7.45 is per unit of one. The following are floor coverings that can be installed on DRIcore: carpet, engineered hardwood, laminate, cork and vinyl. Please visit http://www.dricore.com/en/dinstal.a... to view a detailed installation guide. I hope this helps.

Unfortunately you cannot use this product in a basement that has water seepage, the leak would have to be sealed off prior to installing this. Home Depot does sell products that you could use to seal it most of them are available only in store but you can view them online.

Question
What can I use on top of dricore without using an additional 1/4" subfloor. (lino, "ceramic" laminate, laminate)
We were told by a floor installer that we have to install an additional 1/4" subfloor before laying lino or the warranty on the lino will be void. Can you suggest options which do not require a subfloor (besides underlay/carpeting) which we could install ourselves on top of the dricore?

Hi Dj01
The options that do not require an additional 1/4" subfloor would be a floating laminate floor or a floating hardwood floor. I hope this helps.

Hello,
We suggest that you frame on top of the DRIcore if possible. Here's how:
1.) Lay the DRIcore throughout the basement leaving 1/2 - 1 inch from the concrete walls.
2.) Frame on top of the DRIcore keeping the edge of your stud flush with the edge of the DRIcore.
3.) Fasten the framed walls to the concrete floor (through the DRIcore) with a 3 1/4 inch concrete fastener.

Hello and thanks for your question.
DRIcore can be installed in many situations but was specifically designed for moist concrete floors that are relatively level. May I recommend the following solutions based on your project specifics:
1.) If the uneven surface is a basement subfloor - remove the existing and install a DRIcore subfloor and make use of the leveling kit.
2.) If the uneven surface is an on or above grade subfloor - re-level if you have access otherwise frame a secondary subfloor (that can be leveled) on the existing uneven surface.
Hope this helps,

Hello and thanks for your question.
DRIcore does not have an Energy Star rating but does carry an R Value of 1.7. The finished floor that you choose to install over DRIcore will increase the total flooring systems R Value. Keep in mind that the thermal break that DRIcore provides gives the feel of a 3.2 degrees Celsius temperature improvement.

Question
Can I install ceramic tile over DriCore - if so, how?

Hello and thanks for your question.
Ceramic tile can be installed over DRIcore in smaller tile applications like a basement washroom, but is not recommended for large tile installations like an entire basement floor.
Below is the proper procedure for installing ceramic tile over DRIcore:
Tile - DRIcore is designed to act as a floating subfloor. It is not recommended that ceramic tile be directly attached to DRIcore as the movement of the floating subfloor will cause tile and grout lines to crack. In the case of a ceramic installation, prepare concrete floor by applying liquid concrete leveling compound to the concrete floor surface to eliminate concrete floor height variances. Fasten each DRIcore panel with five, flat head and countersunk, 1/4" x 2 ¼” concrete fasteners that require pre-drilling with a 3/16” x 4 ½” drill bit to the permanent concrete floor to prevent movement or shifting of the finished ceramic tile floor. We recommend one in each of the four corners and one in the centre of the panel. DRIcore panels must lay perfectly stable without bounce or deflection. If you detect any deflection, install another concrete fastener in that location. Install only an approved ceramic tile underlayment ei: cement board on top of DRIcore. Follow the underlayment manufacturer’s installation guidelines for fastening to a subfloor.
NOTE: Please note that we also do not recommend gluing underlayments or other wood flooring materials to DRIcore. In addition to the aforementioned, a sound recommendation would be to have one person walk the floor. Step heavy or bounce, with the other looking for vertical movement of panels. If there is noticeable movement, mark the areas in question with an X and install another concrete fastener. Do not use lauan plywood as an underlayment.
Thanks again for choosing DRIcore.
