The answer depends on the type of light bulb that you are using. If you use the maximum rated wattage, then the area of the shade immediately around the bulb will get warm. CSA permits shade temperatures to rise to 90-deg C maximum for safe operation. This fixture meets that requirement (and is unlikely to approach anywhere near that temperature).

Yes, the canopy and fixture crossbar are included with the fixture. (The crossbar attaches to the electrical box in your ceiling; the canopy attaches to the crossbar.)
