Unfortunately this unit cannot be used to replace the KN-COSM-IBCA because one is battery powered and one is hardwired. Please visit http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/... to see the model that can be used. I hope this helps.

These detectors are meant for residential use and it is recommended to have 1 per floor of the home. I hope this helps.
