The Kidde PI2000CA or PI2010CA is a dual sensor hardwired smoke alarm. These alarms have both ionization and photoelectric sensors for detecting both types of fires - fast flaming or slow smoldering fires. These alarms can also be interconnected to other Kidde alarms in your home. They also have a battery backup so in the event of a power outage you will still be protected.
The Kidde PI9000CA is also a dual sensor smoke alarm but it is only battery operated for homes that are not hardwired. It is a stand alone unit.

The dual sensor from this model cannot be hardwired as it is a battery unit but the PI2000CA is a hardwire unit that will be available from Kidde at the end of the month. I hope this helps.

The PI2000CA has been available now for several months. You will see it on Home Depots shelves but will notice that the package calls it a PI2010CA on the front of the box. This is the updated version of the PI2000CA. Happy shopping!
