You will have to change the wiring harness and the mounting plate but it will not be compatible with a new G-6 smoke alarm. I hope this helps.

Yes this Kidde photoelectric smoke alarm can be interconnected with any other Kidde hardwired alarm - smoke alarm, CO alarm, heat detector, smoke/CO combo alarm, relays, strobe lights etc. All Kidde alarms use the same quick disconnect wiring harness but mounting plates will vary between models. Please ensure that you always use the same brand of alarms when interconnecting them. Interconnecting different brands of manufacturers alarms can cause false alarms or damage to some or all of the uits
