Questions & Answers for Hampton Bay Palm Beach Gilded Iron Fan

Question
How do I attach the fan blades?
I have mounted the motor to the ceiling and made all my power connections and checked them. Now I am ready to attach the fan blades but have no room to loosen or tighten the screws between the light shroud and the motor. NOTE: This is just the box that holds the directional switch and the pull chain for the speed adjustment as I haven't installed a light kit yet.

Ok- I have now discovered there is a hole in the switch mount. You need to pull out a plug, and then rotate the piece you attach the blades to, and screw through the hole. This should be in the instructions, as it is not obvious, and we are probably not the only people to get stuck there.

I am having the same problem- it is impossible to install the blades because the light/switch mount is completely in the way.

The instructions DO NOT say to attach the blades before mounting to the ceiling, and even if you were to do this, the problem would not be solved. This is a major design error- how has this not been noticed or corrected?

The fan blades need to be installed before the fan is hung. You might have to take the fan off to attach the blades since you said that you have mounted the motor to the ceiling already. Hope this helps.

Hi Bill
This ceiling fan is rated for indoor/outdoor use so it will be fine to have it installed in a pergola where it is exposed to rain.

Question
Can this Palm fan model 72660 be used on a high vaulted ceiling. Does it have an option of using a longer rod to drop the fan down further in the room
Can I purchase a longer rod and adapt this model of the Palm Fan 72660 to be used on a vaulted ceiling as I see it is listed as 9.84 inches high and I would like to put one of these wicker fans that will hang lower into the room as the celling is high and slightly slanted.
Which fans can be used on a high vaulted ceiling?

Yes, this ceiling fan can be used on a high vaulted ceiling with a maximum allowable angle of 30 degrees. You can also purchase a longer down rod if you choose to have it hang lower. There are many of our ceiling fans that can be installed on a vaulted ceiling. I hope this helps.

Question
Is there an indoor light fixture than can be attached? Also can we purchase a remote for this fan?
I see from another question there is an exterior light fixture than can be attached. Is there an interior light as well?
Also is there a remote that would work with this?
And, I see the link to the downrod that is bronze, but it appears the fan metal is black.
Is there a black downrod, in 18-24" ?
Many thanks!

This is an indoor/outdoor fan with ABS blades. The blades are not designed to be reversible. These blades have a basket weave/wicker style design with the reverse side of the blade being smooth.

The blades are the same colour on the opposite side. Hope this helps.

Yes, there is a switch on the side. Seemed to make a little more noise going one way than the other, though it is pretty quiet either way, but it made a big difference to the effect.
