This GE SmartWater water softener is ideal for families of 4 or more. The softener features SmartSoft TM technology that monitors water usage and anticipates future demands to keep you in soft water.
Depends on your water lines. 40k comes with 1" onnectors (floor model at local store here had a manual suggesting it included connections to bring this down to 3/4"; it does not!) Easy to install on 1" lines and 3/4" lines (just need a 1" female screw connector from your water lines) 1/2" supply will probably be trickier.

The water softener comes with the instructions and hardware for installation. You can visit http://products.geappliances.com/Ma... to see the instruction manual and the only thing required is salt. I hope this helps.

Very likely the seals in the master valve body are shot, or else the cam & gear that determines the precise valve position for each phase of regeneration is NOT correctly stopping it in the 'service' mode upon regen completion.

Hi Cadidikid, I would suggest either taking another look at the troubleshooting section of the user manual at http://products.geappliances.com/Ma... or phone the service line at 1-866-777-7627. I hope this helps.

it can remove a certain amount of 'clear water' iron, as long as you increase the programmable 'hardness setting' by 5 g/g for every ppm of the iron content.

This unit can suitably treat water with hardness of less than 110 ppm, and would regenerate as much as 40,000 gr per cycle (less if using eco settings). Flow is 7-1/2 gpm delivered to the potable piping system.
Yes, although the factory default is set for 2 am, by entering the PGM mode and advancing to the 'Recharge Time' tab, the starting time can be adjusted as desired.

Anyone who can carefully read & understand instructions should have very little trouble completing this task. If required, a plumber would likely charge around $200 for the installation.

the current convention is to make enough brine for the next regeneration only, so that the salt in the tank doesn't turn to mush or paste over time.
