Yes, you can put this product on top of existing ceramic tile. It may be necessary to skim coat the grout lines with a floor leveler. If you install allure over an existing floor that has an embossing orgrout line on it, we recommend you skim coat with a floor leveler if the embossing or grout line is greater than 1/8”—(3 mm).

Yes, you can install Allure over an existing vinyl floor. Any loose or damaged tiles should be patched prior to installing allure over the old floor. Never sand old vinyl floors from any floor manufacturer, if you think the floor may be over 20 years old.

Question
Can you use foam underlay?
I am planning on installing this product as a floating floor over concrete. I would like it to feel softer than walking on a concrete floor. I am thinking of using the (thin) foam underlay similar to what is used for installing laminate plank floors. Is it a good idea to use this type of underlay with a floating vinyl plank floor?

No, you should never use a foam underlayment with Allure. This is not a good idea and will void your warranty if used.

Allure is no more or less slippery than any other kind of floor when wet! I would always advise people to have a rug to step on when getting out of the shower, regardless of the type of floor.

Question
Type of flooring to install over.
I now have a Domco Floor in kitchen and bath, purchased in 1997. Refer ed to, as a floating floor. Installing required that it be glued 3 to 6" around the perimeter. Around the 8th year I noticed splits appearing in the floor.

Upon checking. It appears that although Domco guaranteed their product the glue that was recommended did not give any guarantee. It has become like glass and is cutting the flooring and has pulled away from the entrances and exits.
Am I to believe that this flooring can be laid over this type of condition? I think not.

Please advise me as to what would be the proper method of handling this problem. Before I purchase the beautiful flooring your advertising. Thank you.

You should consult with a Contractor or flooring Installation Company. A site visit may be required. Without pictures or a professional’s opinion, we can’t provide you with an accurate recommendation. You can not install Allure over a floor with this type of issue. Approved subfloors for Allure are wood, vinyl, linoleum, ceramic tiles and concrete. All subfloors must be sound, solid and have little flexibility. Tolerance is 3/16” over 8’.
