Our design incorporates 3 tubes that connect to the top of our tank, the water inlet, water outlet and vent. Due to the expansion of heated water, a vent is required. The vent tube is the vent for the expansion chamber, and allows air movement into and out of the chamber as the water level changes.
Thank you.

Question
Can this Insinkerator instant hot water tank be attached to the hot water line and use my regular kitchen sink tap?
The hot water at our summer cottage takes a long time to reach the tap and much water is wasted as we run it until the water is hot enough for washing dishes. We need a point of use water heater and I am hoping this Insinkerator product will serve the purpose.

No, a dedicated InSinkErator dispenser faucet is required. The water is near boiling and the dispenser deisgn allows for the hot water tank to vent via the dispenser faucet, as required. There are also a few kits that contain both faucet and tank available.

Question
Can I split-run a line to the adjacent dishwasher?
The dishwasher is a new, energy star rated unit. It draws hot water from the basement, but the run is so long, I don't think any heat arrives at the dishwasher
