It is a very nice clean white. It is not creamy, nor is it greyish, blueish, greenish or off-white toward the taupes. It is actually slightly whiter than my new white sheets. It is quite pleasing. I was concerned about this too but ordered anyway because of the good return policy. Hope this helps. M

If you have just the mattress and box you can still use the headboard. Simply attach the metal legs to the headboard and place it between the bed and wall. The bed will keep it secure against the wall. This is what I did. However, the metal frame can scratch your wall. I placed some sticky pads on the frame.

You must attach a hollow metal leg (2) to the headboard and then the whole unit it attached to your bed frame. I don't think it would be easy to attach the metal legs to the wall. But if you didn't use the metal legs and used wood instead, such as a piece of 1" X 4" to make your own legs, you would just attach these legs to the head board and then screw the wood legs to your wall. The metal legs aren't that nice looking. For us, the headboard is white and the legs are black. They show when the bed is unmade and don't look very good next to white sheets and white headboard. Hope this helps. M.
