Question
Used with a framing nailer
Hi,
I'm a DIY looking to purchase a compressor combo kit but I've been told to buy a unit which could also handle a framing nailer (in case I need it). Is this the right unit for me?

This will work with framing nailers but will not have the tank capacity to soot a lot of nails for a long time. Motor could over heat from running all the time to keep up.

answer 2
Absolutely, that compressor can be used with a framing nailer. Hope this helps.

Question
Should air compressors like this one be bled when they're turned off? (and if so, how?)

Yes it should be bled. There is a bleed valve on the left of the compressor. There is a drain valve on the bottom of the tank, but you don't have to use it every time, only every now and then to empty condensation (water) from the tank. That could range from every day if you're a contractor, or every month if you don't use it often. It's always a good idea to drain it if you're storing it for extended periods of time too. Also, it's better to drain it with a bit of pressure in the tank (20-30 PSI, you don't need 150 PSI blowing water everywhere).

answer 2
Yes, should be a valve on the bottom of the tank you loosen to drain off the water, turn slowly so it does not spray everywhere.

I used the Stanley Bostitch floor nailer with the 6 gallon Porter Cable compressor and I was very pleased with the results.

You can use any compressor with any tool as long as the fittings on the hose and tool are the same! The only other problem you may have is tank size not having the capacity to keep up with the demand.

You should probably check with the manufacturer because a lot of brands recommend not running compressors from generators. Hope this helps!

The motor is rated at 10 amps, which is 1200 watts. Shouldn't be a problem for that genny.

Hi There, I found the little 6 gallon Porter Cable compressor more than adequate in laying down almost 1000 sq feet of 3/4 inch Maple hardwood flooring and a 3/4 inch plywood subfloor however, the compressor is quite loud,so have a pair of ear plugs handy.
